About the Author
Tim Couzens qualified as a veterinary surgeon from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1980 and attended some of the very first courses to be held for vets at the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital in Great Ormond Street, gaining his VetMFHom in 1991. In 1995 he established the Holistic Veterinary Centre in Lewes, East Sussex which employs two other veterinary surgeons and four lay staff and offers not only homeopathy but also acupuncture, herbal medicine, flower essences and chiropractic. He is consultant to a number of companies producing natural medicines for animals and has written for several magazines. He has also contributed to a number of books on homeopathy and complementary medicine but has a special interest in treating horses homeopathically.

This book will make you life, cry and wonder in amazement at the bravery, intelligence, independence and sensitivity of man's other best friend, the cat!

I spent an entire day alternately laughing, crying and cuddling my kitties while reading this book. I could not put this amazing book down. It is a must read for anyone that has ever been owned by one of thse amazing creatures!

Wonderful Book

I like animals, no as a matter of fact, I love animals. However, I haven't had a cat around me in many years, probably because my 4 German Shepherds would not particulary want the company. However, this did not stop the pure enjoyment I received from reading this book. As I began this read I was so amused that I actually laughed out loud at some of the anticks of these furry little creatures. I had forgotten how playful, crafty, and loving cats can be.

This book is broken into 12 sections such as: Learning To Love "The Cat", Purr-fect Pets, and Saying Good-bye, to name a few. Under each section you will find stories that warm your heart and bring tears to your eyes, stories that bring out more than a giggle, and some stories that you will shake your head and say, "You have to be kidding?"

I loved this book, it was just as good as the one on Dogs that I finished not long ago. I'm telling you, if you love cats you will adore this book, and even if you don't you will still walk away never looking at them the same. I never really knew that cats could be such faithful companions. They definitely are not like dogs, and they certainly let you know that, but I have to admit they are a 'class act.' I'm so glad that I got to read this book and recommend it to all who want to know, just what is going on in the mind of your cat and why they do the things they do. Trust me, highly interesting and very entertaining, to say the least.
Great book! Fun and heartwarming read! Strongly recommended.

Cat Lover's Rejoice

I settled in bed last night at about 9:30, intending to read one or two stories in this book before lights out. Flash forward to 12:30 AM and me propping my eyelids open with toothpicks as I promise myself "Just one more story."

This book is a gold mine for feline lovers. A well-established cat fanatic, I didn't think I could read anything that would make me love cats even more, yet this book did it. I was touched, moved, humored, and enamoured all over again with our furry feline friends.

A quick disclosure - I have 2 stories in the book. But since I don't make additional money if the book sells or not, I hope this review will be taken at face value. I would snatch this book off the shelves and give it to any cat lover, any day. I'm very pleased to be a part of such a fine collection.

Dr. Shahid L. Ansari is a Professor of accounting and MIS at California State University at Northridge. He received his Ph.D. in accounting and organizational behavior from Columbia University. He has taught at UCLA, NYU, the Naval Postgraduate School and INSEAD in Fountainbleau, France. As co-author of Management Accounting: A Modular Series, Dr. Ansari won IMA's Jim Bulloch Award for Innovations in Management Accounting Education in 1996. He was formerly president of the Western American Accounting Association.

Dr. Jan Bell is a Professor of accounting and MIS at California State University at Northridge. She received her Ph.D in accounting and behavioral science from UCLA, and she also holds a CPA from the State of Tennessee. Previous to CSUN, she taught at Columbia University, Santa Clara University and INSEAD in Fountainbleau, France. Dr. Bell is well known for her research in human problem solving and cultural aspects of accounting and control systems. Excellent introduction to the topic of target costing

This book gives an excellent overview of the topic, written in an easy understandable way. The authors have researched numerous articles and studies and compiled them into this work. The book also contains a lot of tables and graphs to illustrate the text. The foundations and the scope of target costing are well discussed and a small case study gives an idea how target costing is working in a practice. Moreover, there are a lot of references to literature and some examples from industry discussed. In the appendix there is a very useful collection of tools used in the target costing.
Definition and scope of target costing as explained in the book:
The target costing process is a system of profit planning and cost management that is price led, customer focused, design centred, and cross-functional. The target costing initiates cost management at the earliest stages of product development and applies it throughout the product life cycle by actively involving the entire value chain.
The difference between target costing and cost management is that the latter focuses on reducing the cost when they are already occurring, that means when the product design and the process are already defined. The target costing approach on the other hand helps to identify the allowable cost for a product in the design stage, the cost at the manufacturing stage are therefore known to be achievable and competitive. Further cost improvements are achieved by kaizen costing (continuous improvement).
